I do think there will be less backers due to the SNP's recent actions. But then again if you think to the future it will benefit the other parties such as the socialist party etc.

Scotland has no future anymore. Going to give it in a breif opinion.

Scotlands sell by date was 300 years ago. No political party is intrested in Independance when there is money put into politicians bank accounts for poltical smoke screen bribe.

Its the people that decided that we want independence or not. My fellow scotman is to busy believing scotland cant even respect itself under independance, they believe the union and its that nothing else brainwashed into propoganda. Outnumbered by pro unionists is the problem in this country.

Picking up arms is the only way in my honest opinion, people have fought and died for this country and it can happen again. A Republic for Scotland would benifit every scot in this land. Less laws more justice.

I wouldn't go that far to use arms to get what we want. 56 But I do agree with the rest of your post.

I would like to see an independent Scotland, but not under the leader-ship of the SNP.

The SNP are the only major party that are pro-independence

I'm sure parties like the SSP are pro-independence but they aren't going to get into government any time soon

Even if Scotland were to become 'independant' - they would still be a part of the European Union.................

I'm pretty sure if the SNP won independence whilst in power, they wouldn't remain in power till the end of time. Elections happen.

Yes Scotland should be Independent. How anyone can find it acceptable that Scotland is governed by a group of old Etonian, toffee nosed, English, Tory bastards in London is totally beyond me.

Every day that Scotland is a part of the Union is an insult to all the men and women who gave their lives in the past trying to win or protect Scotland's Independence.

SNP? No thanks..I'll settle for remaining part of the Union I despise.

Criminalising our support for singing songs, about exactly what the SNP want-freedom,is unforgivable discrimination.

What a classic case of short term thinking.

If you truly despise the Union then your only hope of escaping it is the SNP. Why don't you just vote SNP until Scotland gains Independence then, once Independence is gained, transfer your vote to a political party that better represents your beliefs.

I don't like everything the SNP says, for example the law they are going to introduce allowing gay marriage, but I will continue to vote SNP until Scotland gains her Independence. Once we're Independent I will probably vote for one of the socialist parties.

The SNP would have our supporters in prison for daring to sing songs about Irish freedom and the struggle for it.They would not be getting my vote, and tbh,I think any Celtic supporter ignoring the criminalisation of Celtic fans and giving the Nats support should be ashamed.

You're helping the cunts out ffs!

I'm not even convinced independance would be a better option than what we have now anyway.
I think really it's all just about waving the saltire around, holding a grudge because of stuff that happened hundreds of years ago and of course fuckin' Braveheart.

I am Scottish, not British, nothing will ever change that, regardless of whether decisions are made in Westminster of Edinburgh.

Now though..I really couldn't give much of a fuck about independance or nationalism,it's stupid and a distraction,a tool even, used by the "powers that be".

I do care about our support and Celtic and I reject the SNP for their shamefull position towards us.

I never ever want to see an independant Scotland. Simply we cannot sustain it, all our oil is tied up in fucking Norway. Scotland doesn't have the most sustainable of economies we rely on GB. Although I am in favour of Enhanced Devoloution.

I feel no shame whatsoever about voting SNP. I know exactly why I am doing it and what I hope to achieve by doing it.

I would bet that 99% of people who vote for a political party don't agree with every last policy of that party. Obviously I do not agree with the new sectarian legislation the SNP are trying to push through. People are protesting against it and I hope they succeed in forcing amendments to the legislation.

If you despise the Union but you're not convinced that Scotland would be better off Independent then that leaves you in a bit of a political no man's land. I suspect there are many others like you, myself included, who cannot be 100% certain that Scotland would be better off financially if it was Independent. Personally I am willing to take the chance as I believe it would benefit our country in so many other ways.

Saying that the desire for Independence is all about Braveheart, waving the Saltire around and holding grudges about the past is just a silly comment if you don't mind me saying so. Do you seriously imagine that Alex Salmond's desire for Independence has anything to do with Braveheart? Come off it.

I have no interest in waving the Saltire around but if you think I hold a grudge about the way England has treated Scotland in the past then you are fucking right I do! Why shouldn't I?

I assume you don't have any problem with Irish people holding grudges towards the British so why should I as a Scotsman not be allowed to hold grudges towards the English? The grudges are held for the same reason. Part of Ireland is still under British rule and that is unacceptable. Scotland is still governed by England and to me that is equally unacceptable.

Maybe they feel more strongly about the sectarian legislation than independence? Maybe they see it as an indicator of how things would be in an independent Scotland.

I agree with a few of the things the BNP say,but I'd be ashamed to vote for them,or support them in anyway, because of their racist, discriminatory policies.

I see the SNPs stance on songs about Irish freedom,as discriminatory and racist,as the demand to end Rebels, mainly comes from you know who,and the SNP are simply rewarding their ignorrance,by not just tackling the actual problem, but using that "Old Firm" shite to hammer us too.

I'm sure that alot of anti English bigotry found in Scotland comes from that film.If it wasn't for Mel Gibson, half the country couldn't name Wallace,or Longshanks.

Yeah,I suppose I am in policitcal no mans land,but I don't vote anyway,as I think politics is a sham and a farce.

It's been several hundred years since the Jacobites,so holding a grudge against the English for what went on then is sad in my opinion.

The Troubles is a very recent conflict, and the peace process is still ongoing, the people of Ireland are still dealing with what happened, most trying to move on and a few still fighting, becasue their movement was sold down the river,so yeah,I do beleive the Irish have more of a reason to hold a grudge against them actually.

There's so much goes unaccounted for when this topic is discussed. Things such as a Scottish DVLA, Border Agencies, Passport Control, armed forces etc etc would need to be set up and paid for. A Scottish passport would cost money too. So would a driving license. The start up costs would be fucking huge and could possibly cripple the country.
